This is to commend Donald Caves and his staff for the wonderful love and attention provided to my mother at his adult group home from September 2005 until March 2008, when she died. My mother lived in her own home with personal care attendants prior to Hurricane Katrina, but her home was totally damaged as a result of the storm. Since she was too physically dependent on others for her care, she was not able to live in an assisted living home. Her doctor recommended Donald Caves' group home.
 
During the 2 1/ 2 years that my mother lived there,Donald and his staff gave my mother not only excellent companionship, but spiritual and emotional needs and love. It is evident that Donald Caves has a profound admiration and respect for the elderly. Having other ladies living in the same house with her, gave my mother a sense of added companioship.
 
Even when my mother's health began to decline and she was placed on hospice care, Donald continued to provide that same attention and love to a dying woman. She remained at his home until 2 days before she died after transfer to the hospice hospitaql, I feel that by having my mother live at a private group home, I was able to visit with her anytime I wanted to, and I knew that she was safe and secure.
 
As a daughter and a registered nurse, I would recommend Donald Caves' home to any elderly person who cannot live independently alone for fear or any other reason. I am very happy that my mother was able to live there in her final years. Donald gave my mother alot of love and attention she so deeply deserved. We were both blessed to have known Donald Caves

In our ever-changing world, one old-fashioned idea hasa come full circle. In the past, boarding homes were a way for folks to find housing. Mr Caves has put his own spin on this idea, whereby he is offering upscale housing on a budget-rental basis. A friend had sold her home and wanted to go into a nursing home. What she found at Adult Residential Homes filled her needs. She got:

1. Upscale housing in a desirable neighborhood
2. Prepared meals or use of the kitchen
3. Maid service and laundry service
4. Safety and peace of mind with 24 hour availabilty
5. Transportation for errands, doctor's visit, etc.
 
 
I hope that this phenomenon of "boarding homes" will continue to catch on. I know that I would certainly be comfortable in such a beautiful and well-maintained home as they provide. I wish them all the best and continued growth in the future.
